The Indian Premier League 2018 season is about to kick-start on 7th April 2018. There are a lot of expectations about the blockbusters in this season due to the return of Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings into the competition. Both the franchises are out of the tournament for two years due to allegations of spot-fixing. Here is the list of a few teams which have the potential to enter into the play-offs.
Out of eight teams that participate in the tournament, only four teams can make their place in the play-offs. The Chennai Super Kings is about to encounter the defending champion Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in the curtain-raiser match on 7th April 2018.
- Royal Challengers Bangalore
The franchise accommodated strong players in the team since the inception of the Indian Premier League. The team has exceptional players like Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, Quinton De Kock in the batting order. De Villiers and Kohli made formidable partnerships in the previous editions. The team included all-rounders like Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Pawan Negi, and Corey Anderson who were named as match-winners. The team included enchanting spinners like Washington Sundar and Yuzwendra Chahal. Chahal made a terrific attack against the South African bowlers. On the other hand, Washington Sundar bagged the title of man of the series tournament in the Nidahas tournament. The pace bowling department seems strong with Tim Southee, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav. Though the team never lifted the IPL title, the strong line-up seems formidable to bag their maiden IPL title.
- Delhi DareDevils
The Delhi DareDevils were semi-finalists of the IPL in two seasons in the beginning. But the 6th place was their best position in three consecutive seasons. The local boy, Gautam Gambhir is going to lead the team for the current edition. The franchise never won the title earlier in spite of strong line-up. However, the Kolkata Knight Riders clinched IPL title twice under the captaincy of Gambhir. However, under the guidance of Ricky Ponting, the team is expecting to win their maiden IPL title this year. The franchise retained hard-hitters like Colin Munro, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer to strengthen the batting department. The team seems strong with terrific pacers like Boult and Kagiso Rabada.
- Sunrisers Hyderabad
Despite the absence of David Warner, the team seems to be strong with players like Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan and another hard-hitter Alex Hales are expected to open for the team. All-rounders like Shakib-al-Hasan, Carlos Braithwaite, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan and bowlers like Bhuwaneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan are assets for the team undoubtedly. Bhuvneshwar Kumar clinched the purple cap in 2016 and 2017. The franchise bagged the IPL title earlier.
- Mumbai Indians
The team seems one of the successful teams in the Indian Premier League. The franchise stood as the champion in 2017. The team comprises of hitters like Evin Lewis and Rohit Sharma. The team includes youngsters like Ishan Kishan and Saurabh Tiwary. All-rounders like Krunal Pandya, JP Duminy, Kieron Pollard and Surya Kumar Yadav makes the team the perfect combination for clinching the title. The team includes terrific pacers like Mustafizur Rahman, Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins, the bowling spearheads for their respective teams.
