South Africa cricket association announced the team of 14 players for first three ODIs against India which included Khayelihle Zondo and Lungi Ngidi.
This six matches one-day international series is to be commenced from February 1st at Durban.
The South African Selection panel convenor Linda Zondi announced the significant news of including Zondo and Ngidi in the final 14 for the first three one-dayers against India.
He added, “This is a continuation of vision 2019 as we develop our squad for 2019 ICC World Cup in England. Lungi has achieved a remarkable double in being named Man of the Match on both his T20 and Test Match debuts and he now gets the chance to show what he can do in the 50 overs format.”
Ngidi, who gave an outstanding performance in his first test match, taking six wickets in the second innings in the second test match against India is about to replace the injured player Dale Steyn.
“Khaya has been on the fringes of selection for some time now which included leading the South Africa A side on their recent 50 overs campaign against the England Lions. He forms part of our vision to give opportunities to fringe players and we will continue this policy throughout the build-up to the World Cup.”
“It is good to have both Morne and Chris back in the squad as the 2019 World Cup is little more than a year now”, Zondi said about the team composition.
The six ODI series will begin immediately after the end of the third test, with the first one-dayer to be expected to be commenced on February 1st. After the ODI-series, the T20 series is about to take place.
The South African squad to take part in first three one-dayers against India will be as follows:
Faf Du Plessis (captain), Quinton De Cock, AB De Villiers, Hashim Amla, Imran Tahir, Aiden Markram, Jean-Paul Duminy, Morne Morkel, Chris Moris, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Khayelhile Zondo, Tabraiz Shamsi.
