Every year, some players go unsold in the IPL auctions but try to make their way in the IPL some way or other. Some players join the staff or replacement of the injured players and the other players enter the tournament as commentators. Nearly 100 players are going to work as commentators for IPL matches in different languages like Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and English. Here we have a glance at three of the unsold players who will act as commentators for IPL 2018.
- Ashok Dinda(Bengali)
This veteran bowler has a good record of 68 wickets from 78 IPL games. He played for four IPL teams, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors India and Kolkata Knight Riders. In the previous IPL edition, he played for RCB and managed to pick a solitary wicket from three games. So, he was released by the franchise and was left unsold in the current season. He will act as Bengali commentator, in his mother tongue, for the upcoming IPL season.
- Irfan Pathan(Hindi)
This bowler was left unsold in the previous IPL edition but replaced Dwayne Bravo for Gujarat Lions at the last moment. He did not do well in his career according to the expectations due to frequent injury in the peak moments of his career. He played only one game in the previous season and picked a single wicket. He was left unsold in the auctions this year. He will work as a commentator in Hindi, and thus he will take part in the tournament.
