The Chennai Super Kings had made a memorable comeback against the defending champions, Mumbai Indians in their first game of IPL 2018. The team was in an oscillatory position before Dwayne Bravo entered the crease. The yellow jerseys faced some struggle to restrict the defending champions on their home ground, but Bravo’s enchanting innings changed the picture of the game.
Though the yellow army won the game, they have to look at some threats that may impact the result in crucial situations. Some of such threats are inconsistent bowling and some irresponsible shots by the batsmen.
The CSK will take on the KKR in their second game at Chennai Tuesday. Let us have a glance at two possible changes the team may make to improve their performance.
Sam Billings to replace Mark Wood
Sam Billings might be called in the place of Mark Wood for this game. Mark Wood had a bitter experience in his IPL debut as the opponent batsmen thrashed him with 49 runs off 4 overs. He conceded 13 runs from the first two overs of his spell. The team may choose to give him a chance but the possibility of such decision is almost void.
He can be replaced by his teammate Sam Billings. He is capable of batting at any position and can open the game as well. If he opts to come as an opening batsman, Ambati Rayudu can come to bat in the middle order. This move may enhance the confidence levels of the team.
Shardul Thakur in place of Kedar Jadhav
To strengthen the pace bowling department, Shardul Thakur might get a call from the team to replace Kedar Jadhav. Jadhav faced a hamstring injury earlier but he came back to bat after the dismissal of Bravo. Speaking to the media after the match, Jadhav said that he might not play for a couple of weeks. Shardul Thakur may enter the team to substitute Jadhav. Jadhav won a good applause from the audience by his breath-taking shot in the tense over in the first match of the tournament. Thakur can shoulder the pace bowling department along with Bravo during death overs. In the previous edition of IPL, Thakur made an impressive performance for Pune Supergiants.
