The Chennai Super Kings achieved the top position in the points table by cruising towards victory from the pangs of defeat in the first match of IPL and by chasing an incredible target in the second match.In spite of agitations outside the Chepauk stadium, the first home game for the yellow army was conducted successfully. The BCCI decided to conduct the remaining games scheduled to be held at Chennai in MCA stadium in Pune due to agitations against the Cauvery issue and security constraints.
Another blow for CSK franchise is, Suresh Raina is ruled out for two upcoming matches due to a calf injury. He is the second player from CSK to miss out IPL games after Kedar Jadhav, who was out of the second game due to the hamstring injury. Another player Murali Vijay is also suffering a rib injury.
Suresh Raina scored 14 runs in the second match, the game against Kolkata Knight Riders due to a calf injury. Sources confirmed that he will be out of the games against Kings Eleven Punjab and Rajasthan Royals.
Suresh Raina is the highest run-getter in the IPL and is looking forward to recovering soon and do well in the rest of the series to secure his place in team India. He suffered a lot of injuries since two years and was back into the team with the series against South Africa.
Raina is one of the core players for the Chennai Super Kings franchise since the inception of IPL. He failed to make a good score in the first two matches in this IPL but is expected to bounce back and cement his position in the squad for the upcoming world cup.
The reason for shifting of the venue to Pune from Chennai is unrest in Chennai on account of Cauvery water issue.
