India Race For An Edge Against South Africa In 3rd Test

With the magical performance of Bhuwaneswar and Bumrah, India succeeded in limiting the lead of the host team in the third test at Johannesburg by bowling them out at 194 runs in the first innings. The victory in this match for team India may not be much significant as the host team recorded the series victory, but it is necessary for the team to boost up their confidence levels.


Team India sweated on it and was able to limit the lead runs of the South Africans only at 7 runs by coping up with terrible pace attack and setting an overnight score of 49 runs for the loss of a wicket by the end of day 2. Thus the Indians set a lead of 42 runs against the safaris.

Bhuvi and Bumrah made it by having eight wickets out of ten in their bags with consistent performance under pressure. Bumrah made an extraordinary five wickets trick to limit the lead of the opponents and the seamy pitch supported the task. The enchanting performance of Jasprit Bumrah made this day a crucial one for the team’s victory in this test.

Bhuvaneswar played a crucial part with his bat and ball in this test by scoring precious 30 runs in the first innings to help out India from 144 runs to 187 runs at the end of the first innings. He dismissed three of the opponent players by giving 44 runs and played a pivotal role in steering the hopes ahead.

Hashim Amla tried his way to reply the Indian attack by making 61 runs off 121 balls, the highest score in the innings. Philander made a crucial 35 runs to settle team when the score is at 125 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

The night watchmen Hashim Amala and Kagiso Rabada did their best to answer the attacks of Indian seamers but in vain. Hashim Amla fought for survival besides making a decent score with a great focus and he stood safely from lbw appeals thrice.  This memorable inning of Amla ended with his dismissal by Bumrah, who took 5 wickets and gave 54 runs.

Bhuvi got eminent support by Ishant Sharma and Bumrah for his outstanding performance in this innings. The dismissal of AB Devilliers is the memorable delivery of his day.
