The irony is, the defending champions are at the bottom of the points table this edition. They are heading to try their luck at Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. On the other hand, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are going on with two points, are committed to overcoming the hurdles to reach the play-offs.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore made a poor start in this tournament by losing their first game to Kolkata Knight Riders but managed to get back into the track by a stunning victory against the Kings XI Punjab by the knock of AB De Villiers. They could not manage to keep moving on their saga by losing a high-scoring match against Rajasthan Royals. Except for Chahal who played a brilliant part by picking 2/22, all the other bowlers failed to restrict the opponents from scoring 217, the highest score in IPL 2018 till date.
Coming to the opportunities, the Royal Challengers Bangalore is happy with the bounce back innings by Kohli, who made his 57 against Rajasthan Royals. With the trio of AB De Villiers, Brendan Mc Cullum, and Virat Kohli, making or chasing a huge score seems a cake walk for the RCB.
Coming to the hosts, the openers Rohit Sharma and Surya Kumar Yadav are expected to make big knocks to avoid the fourth defeat in the tournament. The skipper Rohit Sharma did not make his mark in the tournament till now. The Caribbean hitter Kieron Pollard is also expected to show some lightning in this game.
On the other hand, the bowlers Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya did not make a decent show since three games, but Mayank Markande is expected to continue his terrific performance in this game. He is one of the purple cap aspirants this year. Mustafizur Rahman succeeded to pick a few wickets in the previous games but Jasprit Bumrah should make some good work to meet the expectations on him to keep up his position as the best bowler in the shortest form of cricket. The franchise replaced injured player Pat Cummins with Kiwi bowler Adam Milne.
