The Chennai Super Kings played three games and won two of them since the beginning of IPL 2018. But, they have some crucial things to resolve to make their way clear for the play-offs. The important issue facing the team is, lack of proper bowling attack though the team consists of exceptional bowlers like Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir.
Though this spin duo made their best to restrict the score of opponents and did manage to pick a couple of wickets, the pacers are conceding so many runs and CSK batsmen are struggling to chase the huge targets. The KKR managed to score 202 runs and KXIP scored 197 runs in the previous games. Coming to the pacers Dwayne Bravo did well as a match-winner in the first game but failed to keep on his attack in the successive games.
Let us have a look at two bowlers who can answer the woes of the CSK by their fiery bowling attack.
- David Willey
He is the regular bowler in the England team and did well for the side. As the franchise lost Mitchell Santner and Kedar Jadhav even before the commencement of the series to injuries, David Willey’s inclusion can strengthen the pace-bowling department of the team. He can be called to work with the new ball to pick crucial wickets before the end of the Powerplays. As the CSK lacks a left-arm seamer, he needs to be included in the team to shoulder the task of picking wickets and restrict the opponents in the initial overs. He is one of the lower order batsmen who can score runs swiftly in the death overs.
- Karn Sharma
Karn Sharma was bought for a huge sum of Rs.5 crore by the franchise but he did not play the three previous games. He did a good performance for Mumbai Indians in the previous edition and picked 13 wickets off 9 games with an economy rate of 6.97. He can be called to replace spin bowlers Imran Tahir or Harbhajan Singh to strengthen spin attack of the team and ration the score of the opponents in the middle overs.
