Scorchers Settle At Top of the Table Credit Of Adam Voges

Before Adam Voges went to bat, the Adelaide Strikers are about to top the points table in the BBL. Rashid Khan was doing great when the Perth Scorchers are at a critical stage with 28 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 5 overs.

But Cameron Bancroft and Voges worked well to rebuild the innings with a score of 77 runs for the fifth wicket partnership.

The duo was very alert to the loss the team had to face if they give up and their chances for topping the points table would be at peril. They were at the critical position when they made 63 runs off 4 wickets and had to make 74 runs off the last 10 overs.

The pair made the team’s hopes alive by scoring 27 runs in the next three overs and gave a strong answer to the Adelaide Strikers. The opponent team was still hoping to get a wicket and get the innings into their hands.

The game was still in the hands of Strikers when the Scorchers were at 103-4. But the fifth wicket partnership made 35 runs off 30 balls to rebuild their hopes. At last, Rashid Khan succeeded in breaking the duo by dismissing Bancroft at a score of 39 runs off 49 balls in his last over of the spell.

But Voges kept still and made 49 runs to reach the required score of 10 runs from six balls. Voges began the final over and turned poor full-toss into a six. He then handed over the bat to Tim Bresnan, who concluded the team’s triumph with a six.

Thus the Scorchers team stood top on the points table of ongoing Big Bash League.

At the beginning of the day, Strikers made a good score of 56 runs off 43 balls by Jake Weatherald but the Scorchers team succeeded in collapsing the batsmen by taking wickets at regular intervals. Bresnan took two wickets giving 34 runs, Jhye Richardson bagged 2 wickets off 23 runs and Mathew Kelly took two wickets for 31 runs.

The Strikers team had to end their innings with a score of 137 runs for 6 wickets. Jake Lehmann made 21 runs off 17 balls and  Alex Carey scored 26 runs off 10 balls at the end of their innings.

Perth Scorchers made 141 runs for 6 wickets in 19.3 overs for their victory and the top scorer of this innings is Adam Voges with 56 runs not out.
