When the Delhi DareDevils are busy framing strategies after the resignation of skipper Gautam Gambhir, the KKR is busy chalking out the team to encounter them on their home ground, Feroz Shah Kotla. They are in a critical situation by losing three games off six games. They desperately need a win to make their way to play-offs. This is the crucial game for both the teams. Let us take a look at the team composition of KKR to take on Shreyas Iyer’s men
Chris Lynn was in a critical form in the initial games. He slammed 74 runs off 41 balls in the previous game. He is in good form now and is expected to make a memorable knock against Delhi DareDevils.
Though Sunil Narine did not do well as a batsman, he is one of the bowling spearheads for the team. This all-rounder is known for his knocks in the Powerplays. He is the good spinner when the team needs one in a critical position.
The KKR has a formidable middle-order with players like Nitish Rana and the skipper Dinesh Karthik. Along with this duo, Robin Uthappa is the crucial batsman who scored 162 runs off 6 games. Though he failed to make some cameos, he did well in scoring fiery 30s and 40s.
Nitish Rana scored 165 runs off 6 games and picked 4 crucial wickets to date. He is a skilled attacker against the spinners and can make a good score at the batsmen’ ground, Feroz Shah Kotla.
The skipper Dinesh Karthik is a flawless player who shoulders wicket-keeping in addition. He is the highest run-getter for the team.
Lower order and spinners
Andre Russell made a good show in this series but he was suffering injuries. If he is ruled out of the team, Cameron Delport or Javon Searles may replace him. But this will be a herculean task for them to fill the big vacuum.
Shubhman Gill is a famous match-winner but the lower order is not an apt place for him. He can be called to bat in the middle order as he scored 23 runs in the death overs of an innings.
Coming to the spin duo, Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla are doing consistently. Piyush picked five wickets and Kuldeep Yadav picked six wickets off six games. As Feroz Shah Kotla is known as spinners’heaven, they are expected to bag more wickets.
Though Tom Curran came as a replacement for the injured Mitchell Starc, he made a good show in the limited period of time. But he did not get proper opportunity to show his fullest strength. If he needs to be replaced, Mitchell Johnson can shoulder the responsibility to bowl in the death overs.
Shivam Mawi, the youngest bowler of the team picked two wickets off 2 games at an economy rate of 9.30. He can bowl at the speed of 140km/hr with a consistent line and length and can get a chance to perform well in this game to repay his reward.
There is nothing to lose for the Delhi DareDevils by losing this game. But they can attain a better position in the points table if the team wins their home game. Kolkata Knight Riders can get a better score in the points table and their position strong to reach the play-offs if they win this game.
