The Sunrisers Hyderabad team made a splendid show with fiery bowling attack to win their fifth game in the IPL 2018. They managed to restrict the opponents to a minimal score to win this game. The five-wicket haul of Ankit Rajpoot went futile to guide the Punjab team towards victory. Ankit Rajpoot’s 5/14 is the best ever performance in the history of KXIP and the second-best performance by an Indian in IPL.
The Sunrisers batted first on the call of the opponents who won the toss and managed to score 132 off 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. As an answer to the hosts, KXIP made a good start and scored 55 runs as the first wicket stand by KL Rahul and Chris Gayle. They slammed Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi, and Siddharth Kaul in the initial overs before the entry of Rashid Khan.
Rashid Khan managed to dismiss KL Rahul by his googly and Chris Gayle also departed with the confusion due to the dismissal of KL Rahul. Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair tried to rebuild the innings but could not stand the googlies of Rashid Khan. At last, he fell to Shakib Al Hasan for a poor shot and Nair followed him during the spell of Rashid Khan.
Aaron Finch, who came to bat at No.5 tried his best to rebuild the innings in the previous games. He seemed dangerous by slamming two boundaries but fell prey to a hasty shot in the bowling of Shakib Al Hasan. He managed to score 8 runs off 4 balls. Rashid Khan became more fierce with every passing over and managed to collapse the opponents. Sandeep Sharma and Basil Thampi also picked a couple of wickets each. Rashid Khan picked 3 wickets and conceded 19 runs and Shakib Al Hasan picked a couple of wickets by conceding 18 runs.
Both the teams have the same number of wins and defeats but the Sunrisers Hyderabad were in the better position when the net run rate is considered.
Earlier in the SRH innings, Rajpoot dismissed Kane Williamson, Shikhar Dhawan, and Wriddhiman Saha for low scores. But Manish Pandey and Shakib Al Hasan managed to make a 50-run partnership to rebuild the innings. Yusuf Pathan tried his best to keep the flow of runs but lacked support. KXIP did not make the most out of their opportunities, especially the batsmen to record another win.
