IPL 2018 is nearing the second half. Let us have a look at the performance and ratings of the eight teams.
- Chennai Super Kings 9/10
Chennai Super Kings were one of the most successful teams before 2015. They were happy with their performance this year as well. They are at the top of the points table with a decent run rate and five victories out of six games.
Coming to the bowling, Imran Tahir is doing well in the middle overs, Bravo is doing well with both bat and the ball and is the death-over specialist for the team. The youngster Deepak Chahar is doing well in the Powerplays.
When batting is considered, Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, and Dhoni are doing good. Dwayne Bravo stood as a good match-finisher. Sam Billings did well in a couple of innings. The lack of good pacers is the only flaw with the team.
- Sunrisers Hyderabad 8/10
The Sunrisers Hyderabad did well by winning five out of seven games in this season. They are known for their solid bowling attack. The skipper Kane Williamson is doing good as the skipper and the batsman and picked orange cap once. On the other hand, though prone to injuries, Dhawan is doing well as an opener. Shakib Al Hasan, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, and Basil Thampi are doing great. If they can do well and improve their batting performance, they have the chances to stand in one of the top positions.
- Kings XI Punjab 7/10
They won five games out of seven in this tournament. But they are a little bit lagging back in the net run rate when compared to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. They have a formidable batting order with Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, and Mayank Agarwal. Andrew Tye is doing good as all-rounder. The skipper Ashwin should make a memorable knock to repay his reward. Mujeeb Zadran is doing exceptionally well and Ashwin is supporting him with consistency.
- Kolkata Knight Riders 5.5/10
They made a poor start in this tournament but managed to reach the top position in the points table after four games. But they had a mixed bag of three wins and three losses till now. They are going to play Delhi DareDevils today. They are in the fourth position of the points table. Though the team lost some of the star players to injury woes, they are doing good in the all-round performance. Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Kartik, and Nitish Rana are performing very well and the spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla are supporting the batsmen exceptionally by restricting the opponents’ score. Dinesh Kartik is doing great as a captain. But the team is suffering poor form except for Sunil Narine.
- Rajasthan Royals 5/10
Though the team is doing well in all the aspects, they are lacking the consistency to bag the victories. Sanju Samson and Rahane are doing good as batsmen and Krishnappa Gautam and Jofra Archer are the bowling spearheads for the team. They won three games and lost three out of six games.
- Royal Challengers Bangalore 4.5/10
Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the weakest teams this season. They are dependent on Kohli, De Villiers and De Kock for batting and Umesh Yadav is the only consistent pacer for the team. Bowling is the weakness of the team. They managed to win two games only by the single-handed performance of De Villiers.
- Mumbai Indians 4/10
They managed to win only one game off 6 in this tournament. They lost three of their games in the last overs. Mayank Markande is one of the bowling spearheads for the team. He picked purple cap in two instances. Surya Kumar Yadav is doing good as a batsman since the first game. This is a pathetic situation for the defending champions. They need to win seven off the upcoming eight games to make their way to the playoffs.
- Delhi DareDevils 3.5/10
The Delhi DareDevils are in a pathetic situation due to the poor form of the players except for Shreyas Iyer. Though the bowlers are doing well, the batsman is not making up to the mark. There is a hope about the recovery of the team by the change of the captaincy. Though Glenn Maxwell is sweating hard to do a memorable knock, he didn’t make any match-winning strike to date. They are in the bottom position of the points table.
