In the 30th IPL match, Chennai Super Kings gave a target of 212 runs to Delhi. Skipper Dhoni backed with Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu gave Chennai a big enough run target to defend. In reply, Delhi’s Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar battled till the last ball to win the chase but fell short of overs.Chennai Regained Its Position At Top Of the Table

The downfall of the Delhi DareDevils can be attributed to the poor performance of top order batsmen. Commencing for the Delhi team, last game’s star performer Prithvi Shaw who stuck impressive 62 in the last game was not able to perform and went back after a breezy play. Colin Munro brought some stability to the team when he struck run off the over by Watson. Both Shaw and Munro were dismissed by Asif.

Now the onus was on the star performers of Delhi, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant who are the highest run-getters for the team. However, against Chennai both, the players failed to perform. Pant was able to hold one end till the end after successfully facing Harbhajan Singh, Jadeja, and Dwayne Bravo. However, in the end, mounting, run-rate had its toll on the youngster and he was tackled by Lungi Ngidi.

Pant’s 79 off 45 balls was able to bring Delhi really close the win but was only able to delay the inevitable defeat that was obvious after other batsmen failed to perform. Shankar was impressive with his game and was able to contribute 54 not out but for no use.

With their defeat against Chennai which is their sixth, the IPL campaign for the eleventh season is almost over.

Shane Watson was announced the player of the match.
