Though the KKR lost Chris Lynn soon, Sunil Narine succeeded to slam KM Asif and Lungi Ngidi by consequent boundaries and sixes. He was dropped twice by the CSK’s best fielder, Ravindra Jadeja to continue his saga of boundaries and sixes. Earlier, Chris Lynn managed to thrash Ngidi by two consequent sixes but fell prey to his next delivery. Sunil Narine managed to squeeze the best of the Powerplays by slamming 32 runs off 20 balls.

The flood of runs continued after the entry of Shubhman Gill at No.4. He managed to score 57 runs off 36 balls and the Skipper Dinesh Kartik supported him by scoring unbeaten 45 runs out of 18 balls and with 14 balls remaining at the end, the KKR managed to reach their winning target.

Captain of CSK, Dhoni said that they had to face defeat due to inconsistent performance. In fact, the fielding of CSK was below the expectations. The spinner Harbhajan was the only economic bowler who picked one wicket but he did not bowl his quota of four overs.

The Chennai Super Kings made a good start earlier in their innings. Though Raina, Shane Watson, and Faf Du Plessis made decent scores, fall of wickets at regular intervals caused the dangling position in the batting line-up. Dhoni managed to rebuild the innings and scored 43* and led the scoreboard to 170 runs.
