The Yellow army faced their third defeat in Vivo IPL 2018 against Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous game and fell to the second place in the points table. On the other hand, the Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to secure the fifth position in the points table. They were in a safe position when compared to the other teams following them. But they don’t seem to take this game for granted.
Match Begins In:
Royal Challengers Bangalore are high in their spirits with their victory against Mumbai Indians without Ab De Villiers. They won their third game out of eight matches this season and Chennai Super Kings won six games and lost three games as well. When head to head competitions are taken into account, the RCB won 7 out of 21 encounters and CSK won 13 games. The result of one game is not determined.
The key batsmen from the host team are Ambati Rayudu and the skipper Dhoni. They are playing with enhanced spirit and KM Asif and Lungi Ngidi are the crucial bowlers. Harbhajan Singh also conceded 20 runs off 3 overs with a miserly economy in the previous game.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore are confident about their captain Kohli who did well from the middle of the season. They have to look for the replacements of Ab De Villiers who was down due to viral fever and the wicketkeeper Quinton De Kock. Ab De Villiers is likely to play the game if he gets well. The RCB certainly needs some big knocks from the skipper. Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee are the crucial bowlers to be watched for. Umesh Yadav picked his 10 wickets out of 11 from the Powerplays this season and Yuzwendra Chahal has a good record at Pune.
The Chennai Super Kings are weak at facing the spin attack and they need to improve their bowling and fielding to get another victory in this series. The Chennai Super Kings have won five games against RCB in the previous combats. Pune is a favorable ground for the team that bats first. Out of three games that Chennai batted first in Pune, their scores are 204/5,169/5, and 211/4. Dhoni last won the toss at Pune in April 2016 as the skipper.
Chennai will take a five-day break after this game and take on Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur on 11th April 2018. Royal Challengers Bangalore will play Sunrisers Hyderabad on 7th May.
