Virender Sehwag is one of the mentors for the KXIP franchise and sources say that he is about to quit KXIP due to clash with the co-owner Preity Zinta on the context of the team’s failure to chase 158 runs against Rajasthan Royals in their previous game.
Sources say that Virender Sehwag is likely to quit KXIP due to conflict with Preity Zinta. In the game against Rajasthan Royals, Ashwin was promoted to no.3 ahead of Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwari and the team lost the game to KXIP due to the earlier dismissal of the skipper and poor planning to chase 158 runs off 20 overs.
In this context, the co-owner of the franchise, Preity Zinta had an exchange of words with Sehwag. She reportedly blamed him for the team’s defeat. Sehwag was associated with the franchise for 5 years.
An anonymous source said that this is not the first time that Preity’s unnecessary involvement in the team’s activity angered Sehwag. He said “Against Rajasthan Royals, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was sent in at number three, ahead of more accomplished batsmen such as Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwari. The move backfired as Ashwin fell for a duck, and Preity launched into Sehwag for the decision.”
“However, when Preity continued to blame him, saying ‘unnecessary’ tinkering with the playing XI had led to a spate of defeats, Sehwag tried to reason with her.”
“Viru had told the other owners to rein in Preity. He told the owners that he’ll not comment on Preity’s acting chops and she should refrain from talking about his cricketing acumen,”
Earlier in 2015, Preity claimed Sanjay Bangar responsible for the poor performance of IPL and he left the franchise.
The co-owner Mohit Burman denied the news and said that “But as far as I know, there is no problem. I have spoken to Viru and Preity.”
The KXIP is in the third position in the points table and is likely to qualify for the playoffs.
