With Chennai Super Kings making it to the finals in the VIVO IPL 2018, only one spot is left. Both Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will fight it out to take the berth in the final game. KKR and SRH have faced each other twice in the tournament so far, each ending with a win and a loss. Today’s match gives the KKR an edge as it is to be played at their home ground.
Match Begins In
In the first game when KKR faced SRH, they were in great form and were coming after several consecutive wins while Kolkata was still trying to find the balance between wins and losses in their kitty. It was easier for Hyderabad to take on Kolkata in such a situation. However, in the 54th encounter, KKR had the chance to return the favor in full. They were playing Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal to make their place in the playoffs. It was the final chance to survive the tournament and KKR took it with both ends. It suffices to say that both the teams had their laugh at the right time.
Sunrisers did have their first ever win at Eden Gardens earlier in the tournament, but that was when they were in formidable form. Right now KKR has the better momentum and they will be playing this game after 4 consecutive wins. While SRH has lost their last four matches, the math is simple and odds are clearly in the favor of hosts today.
Speaking of the form of the batsmen, KKR has five of its batsmen who have made more than 300 runs in the IPL this season so far, while SRH has only two of its men in rich form i.e. Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson. For a win, SRH needs to boost up their play.
If we go by the numbers, KKR certainly has the edge but as Chris Lynn famously said, T20 is a very funny game in which momentum sways at any time. After SRH has lost their final berth against CSK by a narrow defeat, they will give their all to kill KKR in today’s match.
