The New coach of cricket Australia, Justin Langer stated that Steven Smith, David Warner, and Bancroft can return to the team after serving the ban period if their form supports. The trio was banned from cricketing activities for a year on account of ball tampering scandal during the third test match against South Africa.
David Warner, the former vice-captain of the team was found to the master-mind behind the ball tampering issue. Steven Smith and David Warner lost the IPL contracts on account of this guilt. Warner can play club matches but cannot play for national and international formats.
Randwick Petersham club president, Mike Whitney complimented that David Warner is one of the best cricketers for Australia and that they are happy to have him. He said that Warner will play at least three out of four matches in the season.
Speaking to Southern Courier, a local newspaper, Whitney said that “We’re delighted to have him. He’s one of the best players Australia has had since World War II,”
He’s been speaking to one of our club officials and he has committed to the first three or four rounds of the season. Why it is only three or four rounds at this stage I don’t know.”
Whitney said that he mailed Warner after he was banished from cricket for a year in April. Warner has been associated with Northern territory clubs. Whitney played 12 tests for Australia. He shared the dressing room with Warner during 2013-14 rarely due to national, international and the IPL commitments. He said that “Everyone is excited to have him. He will be great in the changing rooms with younger players,”
On the other hand, Cameron Bancroft cleared the ban period for club cricket a few days ago. Doors were open to him to play for Western Australia cricket club in the current situation.
