Dinesh Karthik played a test match against Bangladesh in 2010 but had a good experience as the wicket-keeper and batsman in his international and first-class cricket career. The test match against Afghanistan has a historical significance and seems prestigious for both the teams.

Dinesh Karthik had a surprising success in the test series at England in 2007 with three fifties. He scored 60 at the Lord’s, 77 at Nottingham, and 91 at the Oval. The selection committee led by MSK Prasad is thinking of selecting Dinesh Karthik for England tour as well as Afghanistan test.

He played his last test match against Bangladesh in 2010. He scored 9000 runs in his first-class career with 27 centuries. He played 23 tests for India and scored 1000 runs with a century and seven half-centuries.

He has a very competent record as the captain for India A, Tamil Nadu Premier League, and first-class cricket team of Tamil Nadu. He led the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2018 which ended in the third position in the points table. He was suddenly into the limelight by his last ball six in the Nidahas trophy which led to the team’s victory against Bangladesh to clinch the tournament. His experience in the IPL was also good as a captain as well as a batsman for Kolkata Knight Riders. In this tournament, he scored nearly 40 percent of the team’s score.

Dinesh Karthik had to encounter many ups and downs in his cricket career since 2007 but was considered as a good player. He is a formidable wicket-keeper and is a good batsman in the middle order.
