Afghanistan is trying hard to clinch the T20 series against Bangladesh by winning their second game today. They won their first T20 game by 45 runs at Deharadun on Sunday in the three T20I series. They have to play their first and only test match against India on 14th June. The spin trio Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Zadran and Mohammed Nabi did great to collapse Bangladesh innings.
The Bangladeshis have to face this spin trio to win their crucial game today. Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman were dismissed for golden ducks in the first game and added to the woes of the team. Their departure pressurized the middle order players like Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahman, and Mahmudullah.
They have to strive hard to keep up their wickets on the spin-friendly ground at Dehradun. In the previous game, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Zadran proved to be great in death-over bowling and collapsed the opponents. They have issues with their bowling department as well. The medium pacers Abu Zayed and Abul Hasan were slammed by Afghan batsmen with 72 runs off 6 overs. On the other hand, they could not restrict the opponents effectively. The impact bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed are prone to injuries. Their choice went wrong as they accommodated Nazmul Islam instead of Mehidy Hasan in the first game.
Afghanistan experienced their first ever victory over Bangladesh in the first T20. On the other hand, their top order collapsed for 91 runs from 6 overs. They lost 4 wickets very early after the opening stand of 62 runs. They made a good stand in the middle overs to lead the opponents into defence. The decision of Bangladesh to bowl first helped them out well. They decided to play with the same team in the second game. Coming to Bangladesh, they may play Mehdi Hasan and Soumya Sarkar in the rest of two games.
They have to play India in the historical test on June 14th at Bangalore.
Today, the game begins at 8 pm local time at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Dehradun. The temperature would be above 34 degrees Centigrade and the climate would be cloudy.
Rashid Khan became the second Afghan bowler to take 50 wickets in the T20s with the first T20I against Bangladesh.
