The sensational spinner Rashid Khan again played a crucial part to guide the team towards a memorable victory against Bangladesh yesterday to clinch their first ever T20I title against Bangladesh.
Rashid Khan’s four-wicket haul helped Afghanistan to establish a 2-0 lead in the 3 T20I series against Bangladesh. His performance helped the team to restrict the opponents to 134/8 in 20 overs. Samiullah Shenwari scored 49 runs and Mohammed Nabi scored 31 runs to continue the journey of the team towards victory. They managed to hit the winning target with seven balls remaining in the innings.
The Afghans won the toss and chose to bat first. They seemed to be in a critical position at 79/3 in the 14th over and Mohammed Nabi rebuilt the innings by his unbeaten 31 runs with three fours and two sixes out of 15 balls.
In the second innings, Rashid Khan seemed to make a hat-trick when he dismissed Tamim Iqbal and Mosaddek Hossain in two consequent deliveries. But he could not make a hat-trick as Abu Hyder tried to repair the innings by scoring 21 off 14 balls. Tamim Iqbal stood as the top scorer for Bangladesh with 43 runs.
Rashid Khan won his second man of the match award in this series with this match. He won his first player of the match award in this series by taking three wickets. Mohammed Nabi picked two wickets and Mujeeb ur Rahman was wicketless in this match. He conceded only 15 runs from his spell of four overs. The Bangladeshi off-spinner Mosaddek Hossain took two wickets but Bangladesh’s score was less to continue the buzz created by their bowlers and win the game. On the other hand, experts and fans are surprised by the submissive performance of Bangladesh against a budding team like Afghanistan.
The Afghanistan team led by Asghar Stanikzai will play India in their first-ever test match at Bangalore on 14th June.
