The captain of Afghanistan cricket team, Ashgar Stanikzai is all set to face India with all his might in the first ever test match at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on 14th June 2018.
The captain said that their morale was lifted by the whitewash win against Bangladesh in the three T20I series against Bangladesh at Dehradun yesterday, though the victory is in the shortest form of cricket. Indians are heading to encounter the upbeat team without Virat Kohli. Under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, the Indian team will face Asghar’s men in the historical test match.
In this context, Stanikzai said “[It has been] great preparation for the Test match against India. The morale is high,”
“Over the last couple of years we have performed well. We want to achieve it for Afghanistan. You see the batsmen, bowlers are all in good form.”
Afghanistan won the match against Bangladesh by 1 run. They scored 145 runs by losing six wickets in 20 overs. As an answer, Bangladesh scored 144/6 in 20 overs and lost the game even after the knocks of Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim in their third and last game of the T20I series yesterday. Rashid Khan is the player of the series for the Afghanistan team and he picked 8 wickets by conceding 49runs in three T20Is.
Rashid Khan became the icon of leg-spin by his performance in the IPL and in the current series. He was supported well by the other spinners of the team, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, 2/60, and Mohammed Nabi, 4/60 in this series.
After the win of his team in this series, Rashid Khan said ”Full credit to my fitness. If you’re fit, you can deliver in any department. It doesn’t matter whether I’m playing in league cricket or the national team, I just want to enjoy.”
He picked 35 first-class wickets from 4 matches. He is about to play his first red-ball match against India, known as the homeland of Spinners.
