The Chennai Super Kings, trolled as an old age home by the experts at the beginning of IPL, clinched the title of IPL 2018 by improving its performance in all the stages. The fact is, as age increases, injuries will be frequent for the players. The franchise may look for the following players for the back up for next seasons.
- Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is the budding cricketer who attained a spot in the Delhi Daredevils for IPL 2018 by his performance in the Ranji trophy and U19 world cup. Though he has some memorable knocks in the IPL, the team could not clinch the title and finished in the 8th position. Though his team could not make for playoffs, the performance of the keeper-batsman was alluring for many franchises. If the CSK franchise needs to look for a replacement of Dhoni, who is already 36, Rishabh Pant will be the perfect option. He scored 1248 runs off 38 matches with the strike rate of 162.71. He scored 684 runs off 14 matches with a strike rate above 170.
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar
He is one of the prominent bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He won the Purple cap for 2016 and 2017 IPL seasons. He made some remarkable performances in the current edition though he suffered injury woes. He is known for restricting the score of opponents during death overs. On the other hand, Deepak Chahar has been very expensive in the seasons. Hence, Bhuvi will be the best choice for CSK if they want to pick a strong pace bowler to strengthen the team. He picked 120 wickets from 102 matches at an economy rate of 7.15.
- Evin Lewis
The West Indian players like Chris Gayle changed the picture of IPL. Earlier, CSK was trolled for accommodating the veteran cricketer like Shane Watson. But he answered all the criticisms with his bat. If he wants to retire from IPL, Evin Lewis can be the option to replace Shane Watson. This Caribbean player is known for best athletic performance. He is a good opener for T20 format for West Indies. He scored 382 runs from 13 matches for Mumbai Indians in his debut IPL season this year.
- Washington Sundar
This all-rounder stood as the man of the series for Nidahas tournament 2018. He is one of the spinners that can stand by the side of spin twins Yuzwendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Ravindra Jadeja made a disappointing performance for Chennai Super Kings apart from a few instances. This 18-year old bowler has a good rapport with MS Dhoni as he played for Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016. Hence, Mr.Cool may look for this chinaman if he opts to replace Jadeja since Sundar is a budding player. Though he was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 2018, he did not get sufficient chances to show his might. He scored 74 runs with a strike rate above 140 and picked 12 wickets with an economy rate of 7.54.
