IPL governing council short listed one Kashmiri pacer in the current auctions. Kashmir lacked infrastructure and inspiration due to chaotic environment since many years. This year,  Rashikh Salam, the 17-year old prodigy got his name enrolled in the list of 1003 players for this mega event to be taken place at Jaipur on 18th December 2018. The final short list included 346 players with 227 Indian and 119 overseas players.

Parvez Rasool was the only international player from Kashmir in this list with a base price of 50 lakhs and the rest of three Kashmiri pacers were uncapped and their base price was below Rs.30 lakhs. Rashikh Salam was called for trials of IPL auctions thrice due to his extra ordinary performances in the Vijay Hazare tournament.

Rashikh Salam got the call-up for the senior team though he lacked experience in the age-group cricket. This right hand pacer made his debut against Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare tournament this year and his second game was against one of the jumbo teams, Tamil Nadu. He picked two crucial wickets from that game and won the applause of Irfan Pathan, who is mentoring the Jammu and Kashmir team currently and Parvez Rasool, the captain of the team.

In the previous IPL season, Manzoor Dar was bagged by the Kings XI Punjab franchise but he didn’t got a chance to play a single game in that season. Umar Nazir is the another pacer who got an opportunity to take part in the IPL auctions from Jammu and Kashmir.

Rashikh Salam was called for trials thrice in the IPL by Mumbai Indians due to his splendid performances earlier and might represent Mumbai Indians which is in a quest of a consistent domestic pacer in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. Since all the senior Indian pacers might be rested for IPL keeping the world cup season in mind, each franchise might bag fiery pacers by alluring  them with fat cheques.
