Asghar Stanikzai Says Afghani Spinners Better Than Indian Counterparts

Asghar Stanikzai, captain of Afghanistan cricket team expressed confidence about his spinners after their whitewash victory against Bangladesh.  They will play India in their first ever test match at Bangalore on 14th June. He expressed his views about his men and their efforts to tackle the top rankers in the test format, India. Afganistan attained test status in 2017 along with Ireland. Ireland played a test series against Pakistan in May at Malahide.Afghanistan To Play Bangladesh, Ahead of India’s Test

Stanikzai said that “The whole world knows that [we have very good spinners in] Rashid Khan, Mujeeb [Zadran]. [Mohammad] Nabi, Rahmat [Shah], Zahir [Khan]

”In Afghanistan, the brilliant thing is that a lot of the young talent that is coming through are spinners, because they all follow Rashid, they follow Nabi, so because of that our spin department is very strong from below. In my opinion, we have good spinners, better spinners than India.”

The Afghanistan team is dependent heavily on Mujeeb Zadran, Mohammed Nabi, Amir Hamza, and Rashid Khan. One of the players of the team Mohammed Shahzad said that their spinners will trouble the Indian batsmen for sure, but the game will be tough for both sides.

“It can definitely happen. You know what our spinners have been doing of late. Ireland played their [first Test] match against Pakistan, in Ireland’s conditions, and gave them a tough time. We are coming here and playing in India’s conditions, and that too against a team that plays spin very well. We will have a tough time, for us and for them too. It won’t be easy for either team. It will be a good match, Inshallah,” he added.
