Shikhar Dhawan became the sixth batsman to score a hundred in the first session of a test match. He achieved this record against Afghanistan. The latter team is playing its debut test in Bangalore.
He is the second batsman outside Australia to register this record. He stood by the side of Victor Trumper, Charlie Macartney, Don Bradman, Majid Khan, and David Warner by scoring this century. He scored his half-century off 47 balls and his next fifty to finish the century in 40 balls.

He has the mindblowing record of converting most of his half- centuries into hundreds. Three of his seven centuries came from one run a ball with a strike rate above 88. He had a good 2017 except two tests against South Africa. He scored 550 runs at an average of 68.57 at a strike rate above 92. He made his mark to cement his place in the team for series against England. He played well in the series against South Africa and had a good season of IPL 2018 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He once again proved as an outstanding opener for India.
