The youngsters of Indian cricket who did well in the IPL for their respective teams slammed the fifties in the game against England at Headingley to guide India towards victory by 125 runs.
India A scored 328/8 after they were asked to bat by the English captain. Prithvi Shaw, the captain of U19 world cup winning team made a good start whereas his opening partner Mayank Agarwal departed at the score of 4 runs. Then, Hanuma Vihari scored 38 runs to slam 84 runs off 90 balls for the third wicket stand. Prithvi Shaw scored 71 runs off 60 balls. He slammed 7 fours and three sixes. On the other hand, India lost three wickets off 20 runs and 30 balls, namely, Vijay Shankar, Prithvi Shaw, and Hanuma Vihari.
The captain Shreyas Iyer and wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan added 99 off 80 balls. Iyer slammed 54 runs and Kishan scored 50 runs. Krunal Pandya, Akshar Patel, Deepak Chahar, and Prasidh Krishna made decent scores to elevate the team’s score.
Ryan Higgins managed to dismiss all the four top scorers of the team, Iyer, Kishan, Shaw, and Vihari. In the first half of his spell Prasidh was thrashed by Higgins by 40 runs but later he managed to pick the wicket of Harry Finch. Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Akshar, and Vijay Shankar managed to bowl economically. They picked wickets at regular intervals as well. On the other hand, Critchley, the ECB all-rounder slammed 40 runs off 48 balls. But ECB lost all their batsmen within 37 overs.
