The Statement by ECB about injury of Ben Stokes reads “He can bat fully and is now able to run at 90 percent capacity,”

”He will commence his return to bowling programme this week.

“The plan is for Ben to continue his rehabilitation programme with the England squad during the 4th and 5th ODIs (against Australia on Thursday and Sunday) at Riverside and Old Trafford.” This 27-year old all-rounder suffered a hamstring injury during the test-match against Pakistan.

On the other hand, Woakes, the 29-year old speedster was prone to a thigh injury in the same test match against Pakistan.

The statement about him read “was at least in part due to a flare-up of a chronic right knee problem”.

”He (Woakes) has had an injection for the knee issue last Monday and will now undertake a rehabilitation and conditioning programme to address both injuries,”

”A date for return cannot be specified at this stage, but he will not be available before the India ODI series.”

Chris Woakes will probably miss out the single T20I against Australia on 27th June at Edgbaston and also the three ODIs against India. The series against India will commence from 12th July 2018.

Ben Stokes may probably play the series against India but Woakes may miss out that. By the loss against England, Australia slipped to the sixth position in the ICC ODI rankings.
