Rohit Sharma cleared yo-yo test putting an end to speculations and criticisms. He cleared the mandatory test to confirm his place in the England tour. Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni attended the test earlier and cleared. Ambati Rayudu failed to clear the test along with Sanju Samson and Mohammed Shami.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma got the exemption from the BCCI along to attend with Kohli and Dhoni on account of commitment with Russia.
The BCCI General Manager of Operations Saba Karim announced that Rohit Sharma needed to attend the test on Tuesday and yesterday he announced that the hitman cleared the yo-yo test through twitter. He took the test at Bangalore national cricket academy. Earlier his future fell into doubt when he did not do up to the mark in the IPL and Nidahas tournament minus a few knocks.
The veteran cricketer, Sandeep Patil said that yo-yo test is not the only parameter that decides the fitness of a player. He said that the BCCI could take a leaf out of Australians like 2km marathon test for testing the fitness of players. He said that the fitness tests are meant to assess the capacity of players to stand and play for five to six hours of cricket without fatigue.
He said that players who performed well and were in good form should not be deprived of attending the tour series on account of not clearing yo-yo test. He added that players in good form should be given a second chance to do better and clear the yo-yo test as this decision may impact their career.
In this context, Rohit stated to media that “Dear… it’s no ones business how & where I spend my time. I’m entitled to have time off as long as I follow protocol.Let’s debate some real news shall we.”
