Hanuma Vihari and Prithvi Shaw slammed hundreds to thrash West Indies A and leave them winless in the ODI series. India slammed 354/6 to defeat West Indies A and Akshar Patel picked 4/34 to win the game by 203 runs.
West Indies A were bowled out by 151 runs in the last group match in the ODI tri-series at Wantage Road.
However, India A secured the final berth earlier along with England Lions. They did not make a good start in this game and lost two wickets from three balls by Chemar Holder in the fourth over. But they rebuilt the innings by the 160-run stand for the third wicket by Hanuma Vihari and Prithvi Shaw. Prithvi Shaw played in his aggressive style and was given a consistent standby Hanuma Vihari.
Prithvi Shaw made his ton within 87 balls before he fell prey to Chemar Holder. He was Holder’s third wicket. Hanuma Vihari scored 100 off 104 balls before getting run out for the last ball of the innings. He made half-century partnerships with Ishan Kishan and Vijay Shankar. Thus, India A managed to add 105 runs off last 10 overs. Vihari made his last 47 runs off 24 balls.
Rahkeem Cornwall conceded 43 runs off his 10 overs and took a wicket. As an answer to the Indian attack, they were bowled out for 151 runs. Chanderpaul Hemraj stood as the highest scorer with 43 runs but this was one of his poor batting performances along with his team. Jermain Blackwood lost his wicket for the first ball of the innings.
This is a great day for India A spinners as Akshar Patel picked 4 wickets by conceding 34 runs and Krishnappa Gautam conceded only 28 runs off his 10 overs. The Indians will encounter England Lions in the final game on Monday.
