Alex Hales was ruled out of ODI series against India due to injury woes. He did well for the team in the second T20I against India by slamming a decent 50. But he lost his place in the ODI squad due to the side strain. He already missed out the first ODI on his home ground, Trent Bridge due to a side strain on the nets. He was replaced by Dawid Malan, the uncapped player from the Middlesex for the rest of the two ODIs.
The England Cricket Board made a statement that Hales misses out the entire series and needs rest for three or four weeks. The statement read “Alex Hales has a torn left side strain, he will be out for three to four weeks and misses the rest of the series,”
He had a great summer and scored 148 in an ODI against Australia in which England posted their all-time great score, 481/6, the highest score in the World class cricket for men. He is one of the attacking batsmen for England who smashed Kuldeep Yadav in the first and second T20Is. His knock at Cardiff was an adorable one for the English side which helped them to level the series by 1-1 at the moment.
However, England will keep on playing their top6 batsmen in the rest of the series, namely, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Eoin Morgan. It seems that the bowling machine Merlyn did not help England out to encounter the spin attack of Kuldeep Yadav.
England are currently topping the ICC ODI ratings with 126 points and if India manages to win the series with a massive difference, they can be dethroned from their position. Undoubtedly, England is one of the strongest batting sides in the world but the poor form of Joe Root and lack of consistent bowlers are the points of worry for the hosts.
