Bhuvneshwar Kumar is about to miss out three test matches against England. He is suffering a sore back and needs rest. Hence he is flying home to recover from the fitness issues. This speedster will be away from the team due to injury woes for the third time since the beginning of IPL season.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is out of the team from IPL in five of 17 matches. He was rested for the one-off test against Afghanistan as well. On the other hand, he was ineffective in the couple of games he played for India in the limited format series. In this regard, his name was included in the 18-man squad for the test series against England but he will reportedly miss out the first three test matches off five test-match series.
In a press release, a BCCI official revealed that “Bhuvneshwar Kumar aggravated a lower back condition in the 3rd ODI against England. His condition is being assessed by the BCCI medical team and a call on his inclusion in the Test squad will be made soon,” BCCI had said in a media release on Wednesday.
“The moment we are saying he has aggravated his injury, we are conceding that he wasn’t fully fit. So if he is a vital cog in our Test match scheme of things, why was he risked for an ODI.
“If you look at IPL, Bhuvi missed five out of 17 games for Sunrisers. The BCCI had asked the franchise to look after his workload management. Then he was rested for Afghanistan Test so that he gets time to recover for UK tour. But it seems something is amiss and that’s quite baffling” he added.
He gave answers about the selection of Bhuvi in the playing XI despite fitness issues and adding to his woes, his performance was also not up to the mark. The first test match between England and India will commence on 1st August at Birmingham.
