Ben Stokes will play the first test match against India from 1st August 2018 at Edgbaston. He needs to face a trial later on 9th August on account of allegations of hitting a person at the Night Club in September last year. He needs to attend the trial later in August. Joe Root, the captain of the England test team expressed confidence in Ben’s performance.
He said”We are going to pick our best team and make sure we go into that series with the strongest squad.
“If Ben’s fit to play, he’ll be up for selection. He loves playing cricket, he loves being out there — you can see when he’s on a cricket field he’s fully engaged with what’s going on. He wants the ball all the time. He wants to be involved in what’s happening and I’m sure that will be exactly the same throughout that game.”
He said that Stokes may not play the second test that is going to commence from 9th August later. He did a good performance in two ODIs against India as a bowler as well as a batsman. He is the most economical bowler in the first ODI and conceded only 11 runs from two overs and slammed fifty runs. He was back into the ODI team after suffering injury woes during the series against Pakistan.
England won the three ODI series against India with a lead of 2-1 by winning the second game by 86 runs and the third game by 8 wickets. Ben Stokes is one of the best world class all rounders. Coming to the point, the trial against him will go on for five to seven days. The hearing for his trial was carried out earlier in this January. He pleaded that he was not guilty in that issue.
