India were at 322/6 by the end of the first day in the warm-up match against Essex with Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya batting at the score of 82 and 33 runs respectively. Since the day was humid, the hosts struggled to score 237/5 by the end of the second day as an answer to the score of India, 395 all-out.
Tom Westley, the captain of Essex and Michael Kyle jointly made a stand of 90 runs. Michael slammed 68 off 84 balls with 15 fours. On the other hand, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav picked 2 wickets each. India played 16.2 overs on the second day and added 73 runs to their overnight score.
As an answer, the hosts lost their openers earlier. Nick Browne scored 11 runs and Varun Chopra scored 16 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami bowled 25 overs together but could not pick a wicket. James Foster and Paul Walter made a stand of 41-runs for the 6th wicket.
Earlier, after the dismissal of KL Rahul, Karun Nair got dismissed at the score of 12 runs and Ravindra Jadeja departed at the score of 15 runs. On the other hand, Pandya scored his fifty off 81 balls. Rishabh Pant scored 6 boundaries from the other end. Walter dismissed four Indian batsmen and Coles picked two wickets.
Dixon, Mathew Quinn, Aron Najjar, and Aaron Beard picked one wicket each.
