Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag would be appointed as the batting coach for Maratha Arabians team in the UAE T10 league. The team includes versatile players like Dwayne Bravo, Rashid Khan, and Kamran Akmal.
He played and acted as the captain for the Maratha Arabians in the previous season but did not play well. The co-owner for the franchise, Pervez Khan said that Wasim Akram will act as the mentor for the team in this season. He said “We have decided to bring in Sehwag as the batting coach, and it is difficult to imagine the Maratha Arabians without Sehwag — who led the team last year,”
“I spoke to Sehwag recently and he has agreed to take up the new role. He wanted to help out the batsmen and we are looking forward to it,” he added.
On the other hand, the franchise included players like Rashid Khan and James Faulkner. Last year, the franchise managed to pick star players but they lost the semi-final to Kerala Kings. Alex Hales played for Maratha Arabians in the previous season.
Rashid Khan commented about his inclusion into the team that “I am extremely excited to be playing for Maratha Arabians in the second season of the T10 League. After having played Twenty20 cricket all over the world, I was looking forward to a challenge. Playing the T10 format is the perfect step up for me. I am looking forward to playing the world’s shortest format alongside some iconic players.”
