Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is looking for his finger surgery before Asia Cup. He expects to resume to cricket for Asia Cup 2018 before the World Cup season 2019. The Asia Cup 2018 is scheduled to be conducted in September 2018 in UAE.
Speaking to the press in Dhaka he said, ”We all know that I have to have a surgery. But I feel the earlier it is done, the better, most probably before the Asia Cup. I don’t want to play without being fully fit. If I think that way, it should be done before the Asia Cup and that is normal.”
Shakib sustained a finger injury in January in an ODI series against Sri Lanka. So, he missed out the test series and T20I series in the same season. Later, he resumed to cricket for the Nidahas tournament in March and later played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2018.
He earlier underwent surgery for the finger injury in Australia and later in March, he played for the team in the Nidahas tournament. He was the man of the series of the T20I series against West Indies. Bangladesh won the series by 2-1 last week. The pain was recurring and he decided to undergo the finger surgery as earlier as possible.
The Asia Cup is scheduled to be played at UAE between September 15-28 between six countries and Bangladesh will play along with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Pool B.
Since the world cup season is nearing, this skipper cum all-rounder decided to undergo the surgery at the earliest and resume to his form to hand the team a decent position. He is one of the crucial all-rounders for the team and is known for his timely contributions to guide the team towards the victory.
