Jasprit Bumrah may play for India after recovery from the thumb injury. He missed out the limited overs series against England due to injury while playing against Ireland in Malahide. India is trailing the test series by 0-2 by losing two games at Edgbaston and Lord’s. The uncapped youngster Rishabh Pant may replace Dinesh Karthik in this game. Rishabh Pant, the 19-year old Keeper-batsman stood as the youngest triple centurion in the first-class format.
The Indians were the toppers in the ICC test rankings and won two T20I series against Ireland and England in the recent past. However, the Indian team was being trolled for being submissive to the English in the test series. Most of the critiques feel that Indians might draw the game against England at the Lord’s.
Bumrah made an impressive performance by taking 14 wickets in the test series against South Africa at an average of 25.21. He earlier sustained an injury to his thumb during that series. The chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav could be rested in this game since the English conditions may favor pacers. Hence, the game to be started at TrentBridge on 18th August may include another pacer. The selection of Kuldeep Yadav for the second test was proved a wrong decision due to the fatal defeat of Indians and on the other hand, the English spinners were also wicketless in the game.
Except for the captain Kohli, no batsman could withstand the fiery attacks of English bowlers. Dinesh Karthik scored 0,21,1 and 0 in the four consecutive innings of two tests and he would be out of the game for the third test. Rishabh Pant made few impressive performances in the test matches against England Lions and West Indies A. He expects to keep on his attacking style to cement his position in the national team.
