India faced huge blows in the first two tests off five-game series against England. The selectors faced criticism about team compositions as well. However, Indians managed to post a huge lead of 500 runs against England in the Trent Bridge test. Here are some of the players who might lose their place in the Indian squad in the rest of the two games.
- Murali Vijay
He made a decent score in the warm-up match and he was the hero of the series in 2014 against England. His footwork was slower in this season and was expected to do his best in the first two tests. He was replaced by Shikhar Dhawan in the third test and Dhawan made a fifty-run stand along with KL Rahul in both the innings of the third test. So, Vijay might lose his place in the team for the rest of the series.
- KL Rahul
He is the keeper-batsman and test specialist for the team for many years and did not do well on this tour except on some occasions. He made an opening stand of 50 runs along with Shikhar Dhawan in the third test. He was once featured as the future of the Indian cricket but his poor performance in the current series was prone to criticism as he fell to inswingers.
- Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik did well in the warm-up match against Essex and attained a No.3 position for the second test in the batting lineup. But he could not do well with both the bat and the gloves and hence he lost his place to Rishabh Pant. He is the hero of the Nidahas tournament and replaced Wriddhiman Saha for the England tour since Saha suffered injury woes. His poor performance behind the wickets and slips and 21 runs from 4 innings cost him his place in the team.
