India is going to face the next biggest international ordeal after the loss in the English test series on September 15th, Asia Cup. Six nations will participate in this tournament. There is a lot of criticism about the team compositions for the test series. Keeping the West Indies home series in mind, India needs to head for Asia Cup under the leadership of Rohit Sharma since Virat Kohli is rested for the series. Here are the causes why India might not win the Asia cup.
- Middle order woes
India faced a lot of issues with middle order compositions in the recent past. The team tried KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni, Manish Pandey and many other players since a couple of years but in the limited overs format, no one is doing their part in a remarkable manner except in a few occasions. Kedar Jadhav got the advantage of playing at No.4 in this series since he is a good off-spinner. If he succeeds in this test, India might find an answer for No.4 batsman, the issue that is a thorn in the flesh, since the World cup 2015.
- Home advantage
The grounds of UAE are unfamiliar to India and they need some time to cope up with the conditions at the earliest to make a good performance in this series. This is an advantage for Pakistan for a couple of years they are playing most of their home-games in UAE. Though this is a neutral venue, all the other teams have the practice on the UAE grounds more frequent than the majority of Indian players. They have to play their first game in Dubai on September 18, 2018.
- The absence of Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli stood as the main pillar for the victory of India in many series. Though Rohit Sharma has a good record as a captain he is out of form in the current situation. Virat Kohli is rested for the series since he has to handle many challenges with West Indies and Australia in the near future. So, it will be tough for the likes of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma to handle the unfamiliar situations and fill the vacuum created by the absence of Kohli.
