Pakistani bowler Hasan Ali felt that the absence of Virat Kohli is an added advantage to the Pakistani team. He said that without Kohli also, India is a good team but restricting India without Kohli becomes easier for opponents. Asia cup will commence from 15th September and the fixture between India and Pakistan will be on 18th September. Ali further said that they are looking to win over India and the series as well.
While departing to UAE, this 24-year- old-bowler told the Press in a meeting that “We are not only focused on the 19th September game against India but on the tournament as a whole,”
“There is always a special enthusiasm when we play against India so hopefully we will keep the same going for the upcoming match against India as well. I am happy that there is pressure on me as it makes me perform better and help my team win.”
He stood as the main pillar for the victory of Pakistan in ICC champions trophy in England. He took 13 wickets in that series. In the first game against India, he picked 1 wicket by conceding 70 runs from 10 overs in which Pakistan lost by 124 runs and in the final, he picked 3 wickets by giving away 19 runs in which Pakistan defeated India to lift the cup by 180 runs.
He became the fastest bowler to pick 50 wickets in ODIs and is looking forward to handing their team the Asia Cup. He added “I would like to do my wicket-taking celebration 10 times against India but let us see what happens; I will do my best to take wickets for my team and for my fans who want to see my wicket-taking celebrations,” he said. “Every bowler wants to take five wickets but my focus is to perform when my team needs me most. It doesn’t matter if that means taking one or three or four wickets; my focus is to take wickets for my team at that difficult time. I will try to take a five-for in the Asia Cup and to perform in a way such that Pakistan wins.”
“Yes, we may have an advantage as Virat Kohli pulls his team out of trouble when they are under pressure to a different player in his place may not be able to handle that pressure,”
“Virat is a great player and it’s every young bowler’s wish to take his wicket but he won’t be here this time so that’s okay but if I face him next time, I will try and take his wicket.”
He said that playing their home games in UAE and absence of Kohli an advantage for their win against India. He said, “Virat is a great player and it’s every young bowler’s wish to take his wicket but he won’t be here this time so that’s okay but if I face him next time, I will try and take his wicket.” “Both India and Sri Lanka are good sides; both are used to playing in such conditions. But we also play in UAE all the time and we know how to play cricket here. We all know that Virat Kohli is a good player and a match-winner but even without him the India team is very good.” He signed off.
