We all saw the performance of the Indian team against Hong Kong, but if you had any concerns you can now discard them all off after seeing the performance of Indian team. Men in blue impressed us both with their bowling and batting, first they were able to restrict Pakistan to 162, then they were able to easily chase down the target with 8 wickets remaining to spare.
Remember the last encounter between the two teams in the Champions Trophy finale, this game was also extremely one-sided. The opponents lost their first wicket in the third over and since then they were never in the game. When Pakistan chose to bat first, the skipper Sarfraz Ahmed had predicted a score in excess of 280 but it did not work out so well for the team.
Indian bowling pair of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kedar Jadhav proved very damaging to the Pakistan team both clinching 3 wickets. Indian bowlers got the Pakistan batsmen to the point of no return. In answer to a restricted score of 162, Indian batsmen went on to bat with a watchful first 10 overs. This strategy is what team India needed to get an easy win. The opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma took first ten overs to set on the pitch and once there they motored along. Pacers Mohammad Amir and Usman Khan where disciplined with their deliveries but with a needed average rate of 3 per over, Indian side easily comforted to their deliveries.
Once skipper Rohit Sharma had his game, he started knocking hard hits and made the quickest 50 of his career off just 36 balls. Dhawan was another blow for the Pakistan bowlers. India lost Rohit Sharma at 86 runs, still, there was no need for hurry. Dhawan in a look-out for a half-century was sent back to the pavilion by Faheem. However, at that point, India needed 40-odd runs for a win and Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik played their fun game to get India to win in under 30 overs.
Pakistan had a rough start when Imam Ul Haq’s wicket was taken on the 13th delivery within in the game. It followed with a duck wicket of Fakhar Zaman. Some respite was given to the team by the pair of Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik who built a score of 82 but still, it was not able to dodge a googly from Kuldeep Yadav.
After that none of the Pakistan batsmen were able to hold the fort and team had to wind up.
