BCCI announced squad for test series against West Indies. Prithwi Shaw is about to make his test debut against West Indies in the first test at Rajkot tomorrow. The BCCI got many frowns about team compositions for test series. Later, the selectors decided to not to reveal the 12-man squad earlier. Yesterday, the BCCI announced the 12-man squad for the first test against West Indies.
Prithwi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari were called into the test team by their performances for India A. They were named in the squad for the last two tests against England. Hanuma Vihari played the fifth test against England but Prithwi Shaw did not get a chance to play for the team in that series.
Prithwi Shaw made his first hundred in the debut Ranji trophy. He played 14 first-class matches and scored 1418 runs from an average of 56.72. He is the captain of U19 team which bagged the World cup 2018.
Mayank Agarwal who also got his first national call-up will be out of the team for the first match and Hanuma Vihari also will not play in this match. On the other hand, excluding Karun Nair got lot of trolling for the selectors. Many senior players objected the decision of excluding Rohit Sharma in the test team. Lokesh Rahul will open the innings for India along with this youngster.
Rohit Sharma was the captain who clinched Asia cup for India and was one of the triple-centurions in the test format. Karun Nair is one of the Indian players who slammed triple century in the tests and was a consistent batsman in the middle order.
Test Squad for the first game
KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli(captain), Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Shardul Thakur.
