India vs West Indies 5th Match Preview: Hosts Eye Series Win

India will face West Indies for the last one-dayer to clinch the series. Indians won the fourth one-dayer by the knocks of Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu.  The West Indians blew off the predictions about the submission to the opponents after the defeat in the test series. By his performance in the fourth ODI, Ambati Rayudu seems to cement his position as the no.4 batsman in the batting order for India in the World cup. The West Indians gave the tough fight for the hosts by scoring 300 plus scores once in a defeat and the other one for a tie. However, Indians eyed on winning the series and the visitors are sweating hard to level the series by winning the fifth ODI.

Kohli slammed three hundred in consecutive ODIs but failed in the fourth ODI. But Rohit Sharma and Rayudu supported to make a huge score in the fourth one-dayer. However, at Brabourne stadium, the bowlers also made a good performance. India is leading the series with 2-1.

Indians were trolled for frail middle-order for a 43-run defeat in the third ODI but Rayudu’s knock answered all those criticisms. Kieron Powell and Hemraj Chanderpaul gave a tough fight but still need to strengthen their position in the top order. Marlon Samuels had the record of scoring well against India but failed as a batsman here. But he did his best with the ball by picking 3 scalps and giving away 12 runs at Pune. He picked the crucial wicket of Kohli in that game.

West Indies needs to improve but are on fire to level the series at Thiruvananthapuram. Indians come without Yuzwendra Chahal for this game and Ravindra Jadeja is the crucial spinner in this game. The team included Khaleel Ahmed who gave a good fight with both the bat and the ball in the game at Mumbai. West Indies come up with Hetmeyr and Shai Hope who bat up in the line- up.

Indians dislike to disturb the winning combination but to include all-rounders in the team, the above changes became inevitable. However, the poor form of Dhoni is a point of criticism in the last ODI. The fragile top order is a point of worry for the visitors but Sunil Ambris might replace Hemraj Chanderpaul.

Dhoni is one run away from 10,000 ODI runs to stand as the fifth batsman for India to reach this benchmark. He will stand by the side of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly, and Virat Kohli by reaching this landmark score.

India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun said that “I think he’s one of the legends of Indian cricket and his striking ability is there for everyone to see. He’s done many times before. He’s extremely experienced and I’m sure, given the opportunities, he will come really good,” about MS Dhoni.
