After a comprehensive win in the final T20 at SCG, yesterday Indian has not to prepare for the longer format Test matches against Australia. With first game slated to be played on 6th December, India will need to practice hard. The guests will be facilitated by the four-day practice game against Cricket Australia XI at the Sydney Cricket Ground beginning on 29 November 2018.
The upcoming game will be an opportunity for Indian bowlers and batsmen to get hang of the conditions in Australia and get ready for the actual game at Adelaide on December 6.
The Test specialists in the Indian squad who were not part of the T20 squad like Prithvi Shaw, Murali Vijay, Pujara and Rahane will have a quality opportunity to practice before they get against the top-class Australian blowing attack especially Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.
Even though none of the Cricket Australia XI players are the ones who will be part of the team’s Test squad still management will want all Indian frontline players to have a practice match experience with the team. The Cricket Australia XI will feature some of the established players from the domestic circle with only D’ Arcy Short with international experience in the team.
For now, we can only establish that the four-day practice match will allow players to get adapted to the weather and playing conditions but it still remains to be seen how it will benefit players in the game as there won’t be any premier Australian players in the game especially the bowlers. Australia Cricket XI features Chandigarh born batting allrounder Param Uppal, Max Bryant, D’ Arcy Short and wicket-keeper batsman Sam Whiteman.
First Test will be hosted at Adelaide from December 6 to December 10, followed by the second Test at Perth (14 December 2018 – 18 December 2018), the third Test to be played at Melbourne from December 26 to December 30 and the final Test match will be played at SCG from January 3, 2019 to January 7, 2019.
