The first day of the practice Test between India and Cricket Australia XI has been washed out by heavy rains in Sydney.
The four-day practice match scheduled to begin from Wednesday morning is delayed by the heavy downpour and storms forcing authorities to keep the Sydney Cricket Ground covered.
There was a forecast for the bad weather already but the conditions were so bad that India never got a chance to arrive at the SCG. During the day there was hope for mid-afternoon toss but the play was to be abandoned without a single delivery.
India skipper Virat Kohli took this opportunity to hit the gym instead of taking a day off.
The practice match was previously scheduled for three days by Cricket Australia but on India’s request, another day was added to give the team enough time to practice.
Given the fact that the game is given the first-class status India will be able to use 14 players from its squad to give them an experience of the Australian conditions.
The 4 match Test series begins on December 6 in Adelaide with second and third matches scheduled to be played at Perth and Melbourne respectively before concluding at the SCG.
