IPL 2019: Players Chennai Super Kings Should Target

Chennai Super Kings clinched the IPL 2018 and there were no considerable changes in the retention list of the players this year. The auctions for IPL 2019 will take place within a few weeks and here are some of the players who the CSK might bag for better results. Though the captain MS Dhoni is known for slow pickup, he made some crucial decisions and played some captain innings to guide the team towards the win. Here are some of the realistic options CSK might look for to strengthen the team.

Rajnish Gurubani

He is representing Vidarbha and is a consistent pace for the domestic teams and India A. Though CSK has plenty of options for pacers like Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar, picking Gurubani will be an affordable and wise choice since it adds more strength to the pace attack of the team. He is proficient is swinging the balls in both ways and never misses accuracy even at 140kph mark. He was left unsold in IPL 2018 auctions though he was available at Rs.20 Lacs.

Varun Chakravarthi

He became an overnight star by playing for Madurai Panthers in TNPL 2018. He is one of the spinners with X-factor like Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan. His capacity to bowl and pick frequent wickets in the middle overs will be an asset for the franchise. CSK lost a few games due to failure in picking quick wickets in the middle overs. Picking this mystery bowler will be useful for the team if they need some crucial wickets in tough situations. His accuracy in picking wickets earned him many positive reviews by the experts.

Varun Aaron

He is playing consistent domestic cricket since a week. He made his test debut in 2011 and played 8 test matches and 9 ODIs. But he could not continue in the international format due to injury woes. He represented Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare tournament and made five-wicket hauls against Rajasthan and Haryana in the Ranji trophy. Due to injury woes, he faced many issues with line and length but wants to bounce back by representing Chennai Super Kings. The combo of Lungi Ngidi and Aaron Varun might earn the X-Factor the team is yearning for.
