IPL 2019 auctions will be carried out on December 18th 2018. All the franchises announced the lists of released and retained players. Here are some of the bowlers who will be retained by the franchises this auctions. IPL 2019 might take place in South Africa or UAE and many of the national cricket boards might not allow their crucial players to take part in this IPL. Hence, most of the franchises retained their core players before the auction. Here are the bowlers each team might pick for sure.
Chennai Super kings
Mohit Sharma will be the first bowler to be retained by Chennai Super kings. He was released by Kings XI Punjab before the auctions. He is known for his consistency since a decade and hence the franchise might opt him though there are no changes in the list of core players this year. The bowling department consists of pacers like Dwayne Bravo, Dawid Willey, and Shardul Thakur but for a death over pacer, the team needs to get a back up since the team suffered lack of a death over bowler in many occasions in the previous season. Hence, the team might bag a pacer like Mohit Sharma since it contains a lot of pacers like Imran Tahir, Karn Sharma, Mitchell Santner, and Harbhajan Singh. Mohit will be the first choice for the franchise since he did a good job for CSK till 2015.
Delhi Daredevils came up with the pair of Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris in the previous season. These South African bowlers are crucial for South Africa in this World cup season and hence they might not play IPL this year. Hence, the franchise might look for efficient death over bowler like Chris Jordan to accompany Avesh Khan and Trent Boult. Hence, Chris Jordan will be the first choice if the Delhi franchise looks for a bowler.
The crucial bowlers of Mumbai Indians include Jasprit Bumrah, Krunal Pandya, and Hardik Pandya. Though the team seems stronger with the likes of Pat Cummins, the teams might rest them keeping the World cup in mind. The franchise needs an experienced bowler like Ben Laughlin to take care of death overs. Hence, Ben Laughlin, who was released by Rajasthan Royals might get a place in Mumbai Indians franchise for IPL 2019. He was a very underrated player in the shortest format of cricket. He picked the highest number of wickets in the Big Bash League 2018 for Adelaide Strikers. He will be a good alternative for Jasprit Bumrah if he is rested for the part of the tournament to get enough practice and rest for the upcoming world cup.
Kings XI Punjab
The franchise released majority of core players this year. Jayadev Unadkat, who was the costliest Indian player in the previous season was released by the Rajasthan Royals this year. Hence, he might be retained by the KXIP who wants to rebuild the team for the upcoming IPL. Undoubtedly, Jayadev is one of the perfect death over bowlers in the limited overs format. Hence, he will join the KXIP squad which seems stronger with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Andrew Tye, Ankit Rajpoot, and Mujib Ur Rahman.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Chris Woakes earlier did a fine job for KKR. Undoubtedly, he is one of the overseas players with the X-factor. Though the franchise released a majority of players, it seems stronger with the likes of Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Prasidh Krishna, and Shivam Mawi. He is one of the death over bowlers who can turn the result of the game and the team is left with only one overseas all-rounder, Andre Russell. Hence, Chris Woakes might be retained by the KKR this season.
Mohammed Shami was released by Delhi Daredevils in this season along with majority of core players like Gautam Gambhir. On the other hand, Jayadev Unadkat was released by Rajasthan Royals for this season and were left with only Indian pacer Dhawal Kulkarni. Hence, Rajasthan Royals might try out Mohammed Shami since his records for death over bowling are remarkable in the recent past. Though he is named as one of the test specialists, his line and length seems good in the limited overs format also. He will be a good stand for the overseas bowler Jofra Archer to shoulder the pace bowling department.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
CV Varun is one of the magical bowlers who stood behind the victory of Siechem Madurai Panthers in TNPL 2018. He is known as the man with X-factor and stood as the highest wicket-taker for Tamil Nadu by picking 22 wickets in Vijay Hazare tournament in 2018 at an economy rate of 4.28. His mysterious spin will be an asset for the franchise along with the likes of Pawan Negi and Washington Sundar.
His variant spin will be the crucial factor for winning the matches for the team.
Akshar Patel is one of the core players for Kings XI Punjab. This magical spinner was released by the franchise and might be retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, notorious one for quality bowling attack. With the return of David Warner, the franchise might look for a quality Indian spinner and Akshar Patel might accompany the likes of Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan in this season. He is a handy batsman in the crucial times as well and hence he might prove his ability to bowl consistently for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming IPL.
