Virat Kohli stood as the first Asian captain to win tests against England, South Africa, and Australia in the same year. The journey of Indian cricket this year began with a loss of test series by 1-2 against South Africa in January. However, Virat Kohli stood as the highest scorer of that series with 286 runs. Kohli entered his 30th year recently and bagged the rarest record of winning tests against three formidable teams on their own soil.
Earlier, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni led the teams which won test matches at England and South Africa but Kohli is the first Asian captain to create this memorable record. India is striving hard to secure their top position in the ICC test rankings and recorded a memorable win against Australia after many decades.
In the series against South Africa, India lost first two tests at Centurion and Cape Town but won the last test at Johannesburg by 63 runs. India had a pathetic experience in England since they followed the same strategies as in South Africa but won one test in the third test by 203 runs. At last, England clinched the series by 4-1.
Kohli played an incredible role in the series against England and slammed 593 runs from 10 innings at a decent average of 59.30. He wants to repeat his splendid performance as he did in England in the second test to be commenced from 14th December 2018 at Perth.
Virat Kohli earlier achieved many benchmark scores like 2000 T20I runs, 10000 ODI runs, and the highest number of half-centuries and centuries in this year. This year seemed a golden year for the Indian captain and he wants to keep on his performances in the upcoming series and world cup season.
