IPL auctions 2019 took place yesterday and some of the players who were predicted of being unsold got whopping sums from the franchises. Many franchises acted wisely to get the best from 351 players while some franchises spent liberally to get the players they want. Jayadev Unadkat, who was the costliest buy last year was again the costliest player with a whopping sum of Rs.8.4 crore picked by Rajasthan Royals this year. Sam Curran was bought for Rs.7.2 crore by Kings Eleven Punjab.

1. Mumbai Indians
This team lifted IPL tournament thrice and went out of the stage without reaching the playoffs in the previous season. Taking Yuvraj Singh into the team for a base price of Rs.1 crore was a surprising move by the franchise. Anmolpreet Singh and Barinder Sran are some of the costliest buys by the franchise. The franchise also bought Lasith Malinga for a huge sum of Rs.2 crore.

2. Sunrisers Hyderabad
The franchise picked Wriddhiman Saha to answer wicket-keeping woes but still need to repair the middle order. They picked Martin Guptill and Jonny Bairstow who are excellent top order players and David Warner was back into the team. On the other hand, Kane Williamson also strengthened his place in the team. The franchise tried to answer batting woes to the maximum.

Rajasthan Royals surprisingly bought Jayadev Unadkat for a surprising sum of Rs.8.4 crore though his performance was not up to the mark. He was the costliest buy for the franchise again. Manan Vohra was one of the best and cheapest buys for the team for a sum of Rs. 20 lakhs. Again, the team gave fat cheques for overseas players like Ashton Turner and Liam Livingstone. Another costliest player for the team was Varun Aaron for 2.4 crores. The franchise opted for more back up players since the international class players might go for the world cup in the middle of the series.

5.Royal Challengers Bangalore
The franchise seemed to do a pretty good job by bagging new players maintaining the balance. They made some good buys like Shimron Hetmeyr, and Shivam Dubey for Rs. 5 crores and bagged good players like Prayas Ray Burman who is new to IPL, Heinrich Klaassen, and Devdutt Padikkal for a combined price of Rs.70 lakhs.

The franchise bought exceptional players for this season like South African batsman Colin Ingram for Rs.6.4 crores and West Indies batsman Sherfane Rutherford for Rs. 2 crores for addressing all the issues they are fighting. The franchise lifted the title in the previous season and unexpectedly they bought only two players in this auctions namely Mohit Sharma, and Rituraj Gaekwad. They were expected to buy any of the players Jayadev Unadkat and a few overseas players but it seems very shrewd decision.

Prabhusimran Singh, Nicholas Pooran, and Sarfaraz Khan are some of the wisest buys by the franchise.
