Royal Challengers Bangalore has a bunch of star players since the inauguration of IPL in 2008 but was never successful in clinching the title. The team made their way to finale three times but could not bag the title. The team created a huge fan base by the presence of Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, Yuzwendra Chahal, and Brendan Mc Cullum. Here are a few heights recorded by the franchise in 11 seasons.
- Most number of centuries
Hitting a century in T20I is the toughest task. Royal Challengers Bangalore recorded 12 centuries in the history of IPL. This is the highest of all the franchises in the history of IPL. Virat Kohli slammed four centuries in IPL 2016, AB de Villiers added two hundreds, Manish Pandey slammed one hundred and Chris Gayle scored a hundred at Chinnaswamy stadium. Five centuries were scored by Chris Gayle for RCB in total. Kings XI Punjab added 10 hundreds in the history of IPL standing next to RCB. Chris Gayle stood as the first West Indian to slam the highest number of hundreds in IPL.
- 2. Most sixes by a team in IPL-1038 sixes
This is an unfathomable record by the team. Chinnaswamy stadium witnessed the highest number of sixes smashed by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai Indians follow the RCB in the highest number of sixes by slamming 968 sixes. In 2016, RCB hit the highest number of sixes and CSK stands in the third position with 884 sixes. Virat Kohli slammed 38 sixes in 2016 with 973 runs from the season and this is the most productive year for the team with 142 sixes.
3.Most 200-run partnerships-3
In the IPL history, 4 double-century stands were recorded and 3 were registered by RCB. Virat Kohli is the only man who recorded these three mammoth-like partnerships. Two were with AB De Villiers and one was with Chris Gayle. Against Delhi Daredevils, the first 200-run was recorded along with Chris Gayle and Gayle scored 128 runs individually. The pair of ABD and Virat Kohli registered 215-run stand against Mumbai Indians at Mumbai and 229-run stand against Gujarat Lions.
- 4. Lowest team score in IPL-49 all-out
In 2017, the lowest score by a team was recorded by RCB and this moment caused lots of trolls about the performance. Nathan Coulter Niel from KKR dismissed Virat Kohli and later the likes of AB de Villiers, Kedar Jadhav, and Chris Gayle fell for poor scores. The team was reduced to 12/3 and resistance by Chris Gayle yielded a score of 40/5. Later, the Bangalore franchise collapsed at 49 runs. This failure made the management purchase bowlers like Umesh Yadav and Chris Woakes for the next season.
- Highest team score in the IPL -263/5
Chris Gayle slammed unbeaten 175 runs against Pune Warriors in 2013 and played a vital role in recording the highest score for RCB. He registered that jaw-dropping score from 66 balls with 17 sixes and 13 fours. He achieved three records in an occasion, highest IPL individual score, highest number of sixes, and fastest T20 century in IPL. His performance surpassed the highest T20 score by Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe, 260/6 in 2007. Australia equaled this record against Sri Lanka by smashing 263/3 in 2016.
